Graduating Cum Laude from Tulane University with a Bachelor's degree in Science, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Public Health — Jordana gained a deep and positive understanding of the intersection between mental health and community well-being.
Jordana is currently attaining her MSW at NYU Silver School of Social Work — where she is focusing her skills and knowledge in mental health counseling. Her practicum internship at Metropolitan Soundview High School in the Bronx involves counseling students using a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), systems theory, task-centered practice, conflict theory, and psychosocial development theory.
During her time in New Orleans, she immersed herself in many volunteer initiatives, focusing on mentorship programs in schools for children with cognitive disabilities and behavioral challenges. These experiences fueled her passion for working with Neurodivergent children and motivated her to contribute to research projects examining the effects of COVID-19 on their development and mental health. Throughout, she collaborated with providers and reported on the use of evidence-based treatments that assisted individuals in developing ways to improve relationships and coping skills for professional settings. Working with both Tulane Medical School and Columbia's Psychiatry Division — she gained valuable insight into the complex relationship between external factors and Neurodivergent children's well-being.
Throughout High School, Jordana participated in programs such as the Shooting Stars basketball program, where she helped special-needs children develop basketball skills in a supportive, non-competitive environment. Additionally, she served as a one-on-one tutor for children on the Autism spectrum, creating meaningful connections and providing academic support.
In addition to her professional pursuits — she is an advocate for leading a balanced and fulfilling life. She enjoys: exercising, discovering new music, exploring cuisines and local restaurants, and satisfying her curiosity through travel.
